Building a people for His purpose to Echo in a big way

Building a people for His purpose to Echo in a big way

God is not interested in building a big church. He is interested in building big people prepared to go forth in power and strength. Like most of you in the body of Christ, I was not called to live in a monastery of solo prayer. Yes, our times alone with God can be very powerful and are much needed times for personal growth. However, let’s face it, if you are like me, 90% of that is God working on me. Those are the times He uses to speak to me about the attitudes, junk, and other things I still hold onto and sometimes take back from Him. But look at the first church in Acts 1:7-9, they were given Jesus’ last instructions which were not to leave, but to stay in one place, and they did. They were in one place and in one accord. God fulfilled that Promise in Acts 2 and they were filled with His power, His boldness, and His purposes and many came to know the Lord on that day. God hasn’t changed. There still is power when we join together as the body of Christ and pray. When people were put into prison, or were sick, or in need the first church didn’t run to their isolated prayer closets. They came together and prayed. There is power in numbers. Matt 18:6 Acts 2:1

The Omnipresent presence of God is that He is everywhere. The Promise presence is God’s fulfillment of the Scripture promise that God will inhabit the praises of His people. The manifest presence of God is the result of two or three (or more) gathering together in prayer, waiting on His power and direction and then moving forth allowing the Spirit to manifest in us and through us, culminating in touching the lives of others for Christ.

It is important that we don’t lose sight of the fact that we are a part of the bigger body of Christ. Being in a church and praying with others helps you see that you are connected to, and a part of what God is doing on earth. Perceiving ourselves (believers) as people of great potential in prayer is fundamental for growing the church to its full potential. At that prayer meeting in the early church at Antioch the Lord set in motion the plan that would send forth the Gospel into all the world (Acts 13 1-3). We see that because they waited in obedience for the Spirit of God to lead the power of God was manifested in their cities, regions, and the entire known world.

So, I am writing this because… because we, followers of Christ, are facing a battle. The enemy is taking ground because Christians are not gathering together in one place and one accord, waiting on the power and direction of God’s Spirit. We, the Promise, have decided that enough is enough. Our General, God, has won the war. We need to serve the enemy with his eviction notice. The REPO Man is here and the enemy needs to pack his bags, rent a U-haul, and hit the road.
Every Tuesday the Children’s modular will be open for battle. From 6 PM to 8 PM the Promise will be praying in one place and one accord against the enemy. This is open to any and all who desire to see the Kingdom of God move forward in this Valley and beyond. If you have but 15 minutes come, if you have 2 hours come also. Come for as long as you can and as often as you can. This will begin April 21, 2009.
